Job Description

CAD Techs earn $23.75 per hour

About The Position
• Assist in the development and improvement of lumber processing equipment
• Draft drawings of machinery and devices as directed
• Turn engineering models into burn patterns, machine, fabrication, and assembly drawings
• Model concepts and detailed designs using 3D and 2D modeling software
• Take assembly models, or hand sketches, and transform them into usable drawings that are easy to follow
• Modify models at the direction of engineers and others
• Identify errors, appropriately ask questions or direction, when models don’t add up
• Work proactively with assemblers and machinists
• Take direction from engineers to effectively get products made in the shop
• Provide recommendations, focusing on solutions rather than problems
• Assist in the coordination of activities relative to the development of new equipment
• Oversee and guide assigned projects at different stages
• Continuously learn and improve knowledge of the industry and equipment
• Observe, guide, and manage various projects through the shop
• Continuously learn and improve knowledge of the industry and equipment

Qualifications
• 1 year experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD or 3D modeling software, or certification equivalent
• 1 year experience in the lumber industry and/or machine design preferred
• Understanding of mates, configurations, and display states
• Demonstrated ability to make good decisions for cost effective manufacturing
• Model control: Understand and ability to maneuver models efficiently without error
• Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to maintain good working relationships at all levels
• Receptive to learn and advance in knowledge through critical feedback
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
