Job Description

This is a leadership role and unique opportunity to be involved with the start-up and management of our new fabrication facility in Eugene, Oregon. The Eugene fabrication facility will initially play a major role in significant sawmill renovation projects and upgrades, and then continue to support various sawmill operations. Sierra Pacific recognizes our fabrication facilities as critical support operations that positively impact production, decrease downtime, and reduce costs.

About The Position
• Manage Fabrication Shop resources and the execution of multiple projects simultaneously
• Lead a team of fabricators, machinists, laborers, and mechanical engineers
• Effectively hire, train, direct, and guide team members for individual and team success
• Provide leadership and guidance to coach, motivate and lead team members to optimum performance levels and career development
• Collaborate closely with Control Systems Designers and Mechanical engineers to create solutions that meet production requirements
• Manage development efforts including pre-plan reviews, projected cost analysis, resource availability, and related documentation
• Resolve technical problems as well as work with department heads to solve business related issues
• Manage daily Fabrication Shop activities to ensure operations meet the Company’s strong safety, quality, cost, productivity, and schedule goals
• Continually assess performance, productivity, and skills of the team. Recommend and initiate solutions
• Identify and communicate opportunities and take measures to reduce waste
• Participate in selection of tools, technology platforms and technical evaluation of 3rd party vendor products
• Effectively communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and written to all levels both within the Company and externally
• Work collaboratively with both Washington and California fabrication facilities
• Some overnight travel to locations in California and Washington

Qualifications
• Minimum 2 years work experience as an effective leader
• Strong understanding of machining, welding, and engineering
• Preference given for relevant Engineering Degree
• Ability to see and understand the big picture and take actions that make sense from a business perspective
• Demonstrated skill in leadership, communication, motivation, and people management
• Possess a strong work ethic with integrity and have a passion for innovation and solving challenges
• Proven record of project completions on time and within budget
• Self-motivated with ability to handle multiple priorities under demanding circumstances
