Paid vacation and holidaysOur Tree Improvement division has an opening for a qualified individual to help manage the Company’s seed orchards in Northern California and Southern Oregon. Work will be at the Company seed orchard in
Gazelle, CA.
About The Position• Help manage Seed orchards and progeny sites
• Apply herbicide and insecticide to control weeds and cone insects
• Assist area reforestation specialists with planting administration
• Plan and implement wild cone collection projects
• Maintain GIS data and data associated with cone harvest
• Maintain seed inventory data
• Perform cultural activities such as mowing, fertilizer application, grafting, and pruning
• Assist in development of the Company nursery and reforestation center
Qualifications • BS in Forestry, Agriculture, or a related field preferred
• A California Pest Control Advisors (PCA) license with weed pest category or the ability to obtain them is preferred
• Familiarity of herbicides commonly used in forestry or orchard applications is preferred
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and GIS-based software programs
• Strong work ethic
• Ability to work both independently and as a “team” member
• Current valid driver’s license
• Ability to operate a four-wheel drive vehicles and farm equipment such as tractors and orchard lifts

The general wage range for this position at Sierra Pacific Industries is from $65,000 to $95,000 per year, and is dependent upon a number of factors, including, but not limited to: relevant work experience, skill, knowledge, and/or education.
